Introduction to Schema Therapy Part 1
R495,00
In this recorded training, Clinical Psychologist, Nicky Abdinor provides a comprehensive introduction to Schema Therapy. In Part 1 of this two-part series, she will focus on the core childhood needs and the early maladaptive schemas as identified by Jeffrey Young. Part 1 can also be viewed as a stand-alone presentation, although it’s likely you’ll want to continue with Part 2. It is a valuable presentation for psychologists/therapists new to the Schema Therapy modality; those considering ISST accredited training; and those needing a “refresher” on the therapeutic principles.
What is Schema Therapy:
Schema Therapy was developed by Jeffrey Young in the 1990’s. It has gained significant international recognition as an integrated emotionally-focused therapeutic approach that is particularly helpful in complex cases. The theory is based on the premise that unmet core childhood needs lead to the development of schemas; a template to how we view ourselves, others and the world. Eighteen maladaptive schemas were identified by Young. We develop coping modes to help protect and perpetuate these Schemas in our adult life. Schema Therapy aims to heal our maladaptive schemas; lesson the use of maladaptive coping modes and strengthen the healthy adult mode.
The Presenter:
Nicky Abdinor is a Clinical Psychologist based in Cape Town with 20 years of private practice experience. Her therapeutic approach focuses on CBT and Schema Therapy for adult individual therapy. Nicky’s love for Schema Therapy began when she completed her ISST accredited training diploma presented by Prof David Edwards (past ISST President and highly-respected researcher, lecturer, and certified advanced Schema therapist, trainer & supervisor). Nicky’s motivation for developing her “Introduction to Schema Therapy” Part 1 & 2 training was to empower therapists and students with the basic theory before they embark on the ISST accredited training.
How Part 1 works:
